With the explosion of email marketing in recent years, competition for readers’ attention has become increasingly difficult. Despite that, here are three types of emails that customers genuinely appreciate:
1. Shipment Notifications. It’s amazing in this day and age, but not every company emails their customers to let them know when their order is shipping. Such notifications are especially important for companies selling live plants. Customers appreciate the heads up so they can prepare their garden beds, and so that plants don’t sit unattended on the front porch if customers are out of town.
2. After Shipment. Customers love giving their opinion, and merchants love the way product reviews can boost sales. So why not send an email a few weeks after each order ships, thanking the customer for their order and inviting them to post a review on your website? It goes a long way towards showing customer that you care.
3. Special Occasion Thank You. It’s hard to say “thank you” often enough, and it’s especially appreciated when it’s not expected. Choose a date – your customer’s birthday, the anniversary of their first order, or any date you deem Customer Appreciation Day – and send an email saying how much you value their business. It packs more punch if the focus is strictly on the thank you, without pushing for an additional sale.
