I’m always amazed at the opportunities companies miss to cross-pollinate their marketing efforts. Here’s what I mean…
Think of all the different places you interact with customers and prospects, such as:
Catalog
Website
Emailings
Customer service calls
Order acknowledgements
Shipping notices
Packing slips
Trade shows
Facebook fan pages
Twitter
Blog
YouTube
Then think of all the actions you might ask a customer or prospect to take to move them one step closer to buying, buying again, or buying more. Some examples:
Visit our website
Request a catalog
Join our email list
Post a product review
Join our Facebook fan page
Follow us on Twitter
Read our blog
Subscribe to our podcast
See our videos on YouTube
Add another item to your order
Visit our trade show booth
Then start mixing and matching. Encourage Facebook fans to sign up for your enewsletter. Mention your blog in the signature of your emails. Invite people to add another item to their order in your order acknowledgements. Use your packing slips to ask buyers to post a product review.
The list could go on and on. Keep trying different things to see what works best, but always try to get as much mileage as you can from every contact with your customers.
