Ever wonder what’s involved with advertising on Facebook? Here you go, in five easy steps:
Decide where to link your ad: Your web site, a targeted landing page created just for this purpose, or a Facebook page.
Write an ad. Headlines are allowed up to 25 characters, and body copy up to 135 characters.
Choose an accompanying photo. Facebook will automatically resize your photo to 110px wide by 80px high. Photos are helpful, but not required.
Target your market. Among the choices are age, gender, geographical location or specific keywords you select.
Specify payment parameters. You may choose to pay per click or per impression. You decide your maximum bid and specify your daily budget, as low as $1 per day.
I’ll confess I haven’t test Facebook advertising yet, so this isn’t a recommendation. But considering that female baby boomers – the prime gardening demographic — are the fastest growing age group among Facebook’s 200 million users, it’s worth keeping an eye on.
